Full Description

Volume Four of the Dangerous Old Woman Series with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés

"What makes talent bloom? Ask what makes a tree blossom. They are the same. It is not unfathomable. It only takes concentration. Concentration of energies is what makes a tree flower. Not bigger, not faster, not taking up more space. Rather, less space. Density. Pressure in hard places. Often, in the dark. Relentlessly. Freely. For as long as it takes. Hold faith, a gestation can go long and for good reason, and nothing much shows above ground. But then, one day…" —Clarissa Pinkola Estés, PhD

Are you waiting for New Life, for your talents to bloom? With The Late Bloomer, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés presents volume four of her masterwork on the Wise Woman archetype, bringing you six sessions of original tales, stories from her ethnic families, poems, blessings, and psychological commentary exploring the cycles of "burgeoning, blooming New Life."

The Ultimate Blooming Takes Time
Although we are each created with countless gifts to share in this lifetime, no one is born in full development, begins Dr. Estés. The Late Bloomer—the one at the verge of tipping forward into her creative powers—speaks to all of us who sense within "great talent untapped … touchingly wondrous yet wounded or held back by fate in some way." Meet the wise old woman in the form of The Late Bloomer in her many guises, as she beckons us to ignite the creative fire of the interior life, to burst into bloom time and again.

Step Forward into Your True Shape
Dr. Estés asks, "What is your reason for being here on earth? What are the promises you made to Creator before you came? That is your original shape—the holy shape of how you are meant to go in life, regardless of all crosswinds." The old woman as the wise Late Bloomer calls us to "step forward into our true shapes, and to step onto the open road and blue sky… where we can be born into New Life again."

    The Late Bloomer

Wow! Absolutely amazing storyteller, cantadora! Her voice is so soothing and yet so, so expressive. Better than watching a movie as it is dream-like where you are able to use your imagination. She takes you back to a time where life was life! Her psychological analysis and breakdown of the stories explain the depths of the storytelling medicine. I am healed from her stories!

    Clarissa Pinkola-Estes is absolutely incomparable, one-of-a-kind! 🙏

It’s Never Too Late To Live Wisely

‘The Late Bloomer’ is the fourth and penultimate volume of Dr. Estés’ five-volume audio masterpiece known as ‘The Dangerous Old Woman.’ To the uninitiated it is difficult to describe the wisdom, insight, inspiration and stories in each volume of this series.

With the myriad skills of a therapist with decades of experience, and a depth psychologist and Jungian analyst at the top of her game, Dr. Estés deftly blends well-known stories, personal family legends and insight into a series of audio recordings that engage and inspire the listener.

As is usually the case with great work, teaching happens at many levels. Although Dr. Estés is a certified Jungian analyst, that label is too limiting. While Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell raised awareness of Archetypes, many cultural stories, legends, myths and wisdom have passed on from our ancestors for millennia. Often practitioners of depth psychology become Jungian analysts as a result of their education and studies. Dr. Estés seems to have been born to become one of our generations greatest oral and written story tellers, commune with Archetypes, Saints and Angels, as well as maintain a relentless desire to help, inspire and advocate for others.

One of the greatest gift of this series is its ability to guide the listener to discover who they really are, nurture and empower their “Original Voice,” and cast off social, cultural and personal bindings that separate the listener from his or her destiny and birthright.

    Review for The Late Bloomer

Superb as usual.. I adore Dr Estes and this series really gives you hope, especially if you are late blooming..she helps you feel that all your sitting around and moping in the dark for years hasn't just been a waste of a life but it has some purpose and how you can put it to good use..

Of course you will have to listen to a few times to really soak in it..

    Review for The Late Bloomer

I'm really disappointed with this CD. I was going to ask for my money back and would love if a refund were still possible as it really did not meet my expectations. Having read and loved Pinkola Estes book, Women who Run with the Wolves, I'd been very much looking forward to hearing her speak on CD. The first CD alone spanning two hours could have been summed up in the phrase--it's never too late. Instead, the author rambled and waffled on and on and it appeared she was simply intent on filling time rather than providing substance to her topic. I would not recommend this CD to anybody having found it an outrageous waste of time and money. It appears there is no option here to give a no-star rating, so therefore I'm being forced to give it 1.
